Donation to Pinantan Lake Fire Hall Fuels Community Safety

New Afton Mine donated $24,000 to the Pinantan Lake Fire & Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Association through the Community Investment Program (CIP) to help them cover the expenses of building a new fire hall and upgrade their permits to complete the project.

The Pinantan Lake Fire & EMS Association comprises a small group of dedicated volunteers. This close-knit community of around 500 residents just east of Kamloops relies on volunteers and the new fire hall for assistance in the event of a fire. The fire hall also provides Pinantan Lake residents with a venue for community activities and will become a central hub for the area.

New Afton is proud to support the Pinantan Lake Fire & EMS Association and the committed volunteers serving this tight-knit community. New Gold is dedicated to improving the strength and development of our host communities, and this donation equips first responders with the essential facilities they need to serve and protect residents effectively.

In 2024, New Gold refreshed the CIP by introducing enhancements to the application process, including a new application form, improved documentation and record-keeping, and better tracking of community impact. These changes align with key investment focus areas: Social and Community Development, Education, and the Environment. New Gold accepts applications from local non-profit organizations and charities that share our goals and focus areas. The committee reviews applications in March, June, September, and November.
